The 2008 Summer Youth Music Camp will be held in at Quiet Valley Ranch in Kerrville, Texas, July 13th – 17th. This program is designed to provide youth 13 to 18 years of age with a quality music camp that helps them find their own sound and voices. We will accept a limited number of 12 year olds. With professional singer songwriters and musicians, we hope this camp provides a new experience in music. Combined with the music will be an outdoor experience consisting of camping, canoeing and much more. Keep in mind that the primary objectives of the camp are having fun, building self-esteem, providing new experiences, teaching positive leisure time activities, and integrating music with developing leadership skills. All youth must have a supervising adult to attend.
We are planning sessions in Song Construction, Commitment to Your Craft, Open Mike nights and much more. This program will provide a quality Teen Experience. Youth will learn to write their own songs, performing techniques and performing skills. We are influenced by everything around us and this program helps kids get back to the basics, find their VOICE and SOUND and realize that is okay to be an individual. This music camp is being produced by Dalis Allen, producer of the Kerrville Folk Festival. The Kerrville Folk Festival for more than 30 years has provided opportunities for singer songwriters to showcase their talents.
This partnership between Boys & Girls Clubs and the Texas Folk Music Foundation is designed to provide youth with interaction from professional singer songwriters and influence in making MUSIC an active part of their lives. This camp is being funded in part through a private donation to the Texas Folk Music Foundation. The cost per participant is $50. This cost will help us offset our expenses for use of Quiet Valley Ranch Camping & Theaters, the canoe trip and the food needed for the camp.
As a Deputy Chief Professional Officer with Boys & Girls Clubs and a member of the Texas Folk Music Foundation Board of Directors, I am excited to expose our kids to professional singer songwriters. I hope this camp experience will be rewarding to both you and your kids and we look forward to a long partnership with local Clubs.
For more information, please feel free to call me at the number listed above.

Camping on the Ranch is
probably the best way to experience the magic of the 2008 Summer Music Camp. Some of the best music will be
heard in the campgrounds in the evenings. Although we will be camped near and
around Threadgill Theater, there are 20 acres of scenic and rustic Hill Country
campgrounds within walking distance of the outdoor theater and Chapel Hill.
Warm showers and clean
(albeit primitive) toilet facilities are located throughout the campgrounds.
NO PETS are allowed on the Ranch during the Music Camp.
NO FIREARMS OR CONCEALED WEAPONS!
NO GENERATORS!
NO DRUGS OR ALCOHOL
NO STEREOS OR RECORDED MUSIC are allowed to be played in the
campgrounds.
This is fairly rugged
Hill Country terrain, so dress comfortably. Shorts, t-shirts, a hat, and
outdoor shoes usually do the trick. Be prepared for rain! Afternoon
thundershowers are not uncommon. Some good rain gear, both for your camp site
and for your body, can make a big difference!
We would like for you to consider sponsoring a teen to our 3rd Annual Music Camp for Teens to be held July 13th – 17th. The Texas Folk Music Foundation, in conjunction with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Texas, NEEDS YOUR HELP! Your sponsorship of $50 will allow us to send one teen to camp. We are expecting 80 kids this year from our Kerrville Family and our Clubs.
